Extra Learning Challenges
For older 3s and young 4s: Alliteration
For this term, we have introduced the children to alliteration, which are words that begin with the same initial sound. Alliteration is a skill that can be learnt through repetition and enjoyable activities. This week, we would like you to focus on listening to a few tongue twisters and just appreciate the same beginning sound in neighbouring words.
For younger 3s: Tidying Up
Some children love to be helpers, others need a little encouragement, and that’s OK. Be sure to offer lots of praise when your child helps put their toys away. Other ways to make clean-up time fun include using a song like the one below.
Other activities to make tidying up fun include:
· Make a game out of it by, such as racing the timer to get all the toys away before the buzzer goes off.
· Have them use tongs to pick up small toys.
· Have them pick up by category. For instance, all the balls, blocks, or dolls.
Over time, you can use fewer prompts and decrease the amount you need to help.
