January 2021: Back to School

Home Learning

The government has announced that from January 4, for at least the first two weeks, children are to learn from home. Each day your child’s class teacher will upload the work that the children need to complete each day on to the class page on the website

https://www.westcourt.kent.sch.uk/class-pages/

If you need to contact the class teacher please see their email address on their class pages. Please note that they are unable to reply through these addresses but they will reply on the website or via the office.

Class teachers will also organise a work pack that the children can work through alongside the work that is on the website. As soon as these are available for collection from the Foxes Den, we will text out to you. If your family is self-isolating please do let the school know and we will try to get the pack out to you, please bear in mind we have limited capacity to do this.

Free school Meals, as yet we have been given no information about this. As soon as we know the arrangements we will let you know.

Critical Workers and Vulnerable Children

The government has announced that from January 4, for at least the first two weeks of term, that all children will move to remote learning.

School will be open to only critical workers children and vulnerable children, who have a social worker. This will be broadly the same children who came back to school in March 2020 at the start of the pandemic.

School will be open from 8 to 5pm. Children will only attend breakfast club and wrap around care if they normally do during term time. All other children will attend school from 9 - 3pm.

If you feel your child is within the above categories please can you email the school at headteacher@westcourt.kent.sch.uk

Please state the following

1. The name and year group of your child

2. Your job and which category it falls into

3. The days in which your child will need to attend

4. The times that they will need to attend

5. If they will require a school dinner or they will bring a pack lunch

Please email by Saturday 2nd January at  9am at the latest. This will allow the school time to organise staff. You will then receive an email back confirming if your child is eligible for a space

We are working as quickly as possible to get information out to you.

Please stay safe at this time.

I wish you all a safe New Year in which I hope 2021 will bring an end to this situation and we can return to a new normal.

Miss Sexton
