Good morning everyone and happy Tuesday!
Well done for all your hard work yesterday - I am so impressed with the effort you are all putting in!
Did you watch Miss Sexton's assembly yesterday? Huge congratulations to Jack for being our first work of the week during home learning.
I wonder who will get it this week
Today you will need the work from your new packs, as well as activities from the pack last week.
Today you are going to be revisiting a skill that we have done a lot for maths starters in class. x and divide by 10, 100 and 1000.
It's really important to use your place value to help with this.
Also the absolute golden rule of maths......the decimal never moves!
Watch this video from Miss Hart to remind your self how we do this:
Today we are going to focus on how we x by 10, 100 and 100 in our maths activities.
In your new packs, you need the sheets called multiplying by 10, 100 and 100. As you did yesterday, start with the VF and then move on to your challenges using PS/R.
Please do write out your place value grids if it will help - it is much better to do this and understand your learning, than not do it and get confused.
For your next activity, please get out the four operations booklet from the last pack.
Today I would like you to do the work on multiples. This is where you will need to use your times tables skills.
It asks you to find the LCM - lowest common multiple. There are lots of ways to do this using your times tables. It should sound familiar. IT's what we do when we find the LCD (lowest common denominator) when we + and - fractions!
Please get the SPaG pack from last week's pack.
Today you will be looking at adverbs - remember these describe the verb or an adjective in a sentence.
Follow the instructions on the sheet and complete the activities.
Your predictions about our new book yesterday were absolutely fabulous!
And thank you for your guesses for our new book title.
Did you guess it correctly?
Treasure Island was written by Robert Louis Stevenson. He is known as a classic author as his story is known world wide!
Your English task today is to research all about his life. Make notes that tomorrow we can turn into a biography about him.
You might like to make notes on:
- when he was born
- what made him most famous
- hs family life
- why he wanted to write
- other writing he is known for
Remember when taking notes you do not need to write in full sentences and we would usually use bullet points.
You might like to watch a few videos about his life or read some of the poetry he has done.
When you are doing research it is important to use search engines safely - of you are not sure about what you are reading, please make sure you talk to an adult.
Make sure you have plenty of notes from today - it will make your writing easier tomorrow
There was some great research done yesterday about the circulatory system!
Today we are going to find out more about the heart. Our hearts are absolutely amazing - they are a vital organ for our bodies and it is important to keep your heart healthy.
What do you already know about the heart? Have a talk with someone at home.
Watch this video:
It can be very complicated learning about the heart!
To help you understand more it will help to label the different parts of it. In your packs find the picture of the heart with the blank labels.
You might like to watch the video again to help you, you could also research images of the heart to help you label it. Use the words at the bottom to complete the activity.
There are lots of activities for you to be getting on with today and I cannot wait to see what you have got up to.
Remember there is still plenty of time in your day to complete AR reading and to spend time on TT Rockstars.
If you have any questions or need any help please just email and I will reply on the class page.
Have a great day!
