End of term video

The Big Westcourt Quiz - Answers!

Friday 16th July

Good Morning Turkey Class,

Wow, I cannot believe that it is the last day of term and your last day as Year 1s!

As it is the last day today, I would like you to do lots of things that make you happy. You can play your favourite game or read your favourite book or watch your favourite film. It is meant to be very warm today so maybe you could go and play outside but make sure you have your sun cream and hat on or find a shady spot. Sing and dance along to your favourite songs too.

You have all worked so hard at home and we cannot believe how long it has been since we have seen you all together. We have missed your smiley faces and your enthusiasm. We have loved seeing all of the work that you have been doing at home, remember to say thank you from us to the adults that have helped you.

A huge well done to Daris for your super work -

Thank you too for our message, it made us both smile.

A huge well done to Sebastian for your super work too -

You have both sent us so much work since March and have been working so hard, we have been really impressed with your love of learning and super attitude. Unfortunately we can’t give you a real sticker but here is a virtual sticker to say well done Daris and Sebastian.

We are really proud of each and every one of you in Turkey Class, you have all worked so hard and adjusted to this new way of learning.

I am looking forward to seeing you on your first day back in September when you will spend the day in Turkey Class.

Have a super summer and keep being the fantastic little people that you are.

Miss Pearce

Dear Parents/Carers,

I would just like to say thank you for all your hard work during this very strange time. I thoroughly enjoyed teaching your children and they made me feel very welcome when I joined the school in January. They are all such kind and caring children with so much enthusiasm and zest for life. I hope that you have enjoyed your time teaching them at home, I am sure that there have been some challenges along the way and we really appreciate all that you have done.

Have a lovely summer, enjoy the break and I look forward to seeing you at the start of the new school year.

Miss Pearce

  • then
  • next
  • after that

If you haven’t finished your packs yet, try to finish a few sheets today.

Have a super day.

Wednesday 14th July

Good morning everyone. I hope you are all well and happy. This will be my last post to you as Miss Pearce will be setting you work from tomorrow as usual. I just wanted to tell you how much of a joy it has been to teach you this past year in Turkey class. You have all been amazing and you are a credit to your parents. You have all grown in confidence this year and this will continue as you move on to Australia class. I will miss you all but will continue to see you around the school as I won't be very far away in Norway class.

I thought today that I would put on a link to our favourite story 'The Gruffalo'. We had read this lots of times and enjoyed it too,

The Gruffalo - Read by Alan Mandel

.

You can keep sending in pictures of what you have been doing to Turkey@westcourt.kent.sch.uk and make sure you have a fantastic summer holiday. I'm looking forward to seeing you all in September.

Friday 10th July

Happy Friday,

Wow, it’s the end of another week. I hope that you have had a good week. Daris, you have been working so hard. Well done for all of your fantastic work, you are a superstar.

Today I have set you some Maths work on Purple Mash. I would also like you to answer these time questions -

  • Which times are shorter than 1 day?

a) 1 week     b) 1 minute     c) 1 hour     d) 1 year     e) 1 month     f) 1 second

  • What month comes after July?

  • How many days are there in a fortnight?

  • What day comes before Sunday?

  • How many hours are there in a day?

  • Is May in winter?

  • How many months are in a year?

  • What month is Christmas Day in?

For English, I would like you to do a speaking activity with your adult - there is no writing today! I would like you to use your imagination. Imagine you have found an old suitcase under a bush at school. I would like you to answer these questions about the suitcase. You need to answer in full sentences using lots of descriptive language.

  • What does the suitcase look like? Think about what colour it is and what size it is. What else can you say about the suitcase?
  • Who does the suitcase belong to?
  • Why is the suitcase there?
  • What is in the suitcase?
  • What are you going to do with the suitcase?

There are also some reading activities to complete on Purple Mash too.

Have a lovely day and a super weekend ready for our last week of term next week.

Thursday 9th July

Good Morning Everyone,

I hope that you have had a good week so far and that you are all finding lots of fun things to do at home.

Today I would like you to practise telling the time.

Have a go at Level One and see if you can remember o'clock and half past.

For English I would like you to think of an animal for each letter of the alphabet and an adjective to describe that animal using the same initial letter for example for A you could have amazing ant. Then can you think of something beginning with the initial letter that the animal could be eating for example An amazing ant is eating an apple. See if you can make some really silly sentences. You might not get through the whole alphabet today so could finish it tomorrow. Maybe you could draw some pictures to go with your silly sentences.

Remember to do a few pages from your pack too and to keep smiling.

Have a super day.

Miss Pearce

Wednesday 8th July

Hello everyone! I hope you are all well. Today I would like you to practice and learn the next set of tricky words. Remember that these words are hard to sound out using our phonics so we have to learn to spell them.

These posters are a good way to remind you how to spell a word. Take the first letter from each word to help you to spell the word correctly.

Have fun today and stay safe. Do a few pages from your home learning pack and your last learning pack will be available from early next week.

Good morning everyone. I hope that you all had a lovely weekend.Well done once again to those children who are sending us their lovely work in. Well done to Sebastian who followed instructions carefully to create a picture of the lion in the story of 'How to be a Lion'. We listened to this story in class and the children created some lovely artwork just like Sebastian.

Well done to Daris too as he wrote a lovely story about foxes and ducks. He used great conjunctions and time connectives too. Lovely handwriting Daris and very well written.

Today I would like you to look at this maths game to practise your number bonds to 20.

Have a lovely day today and don't forget to carry on working on your home learning packs.

Mrs Outred smiley

Happy Friday Everyone,

I hope that you have had a super week of learning. You are all doing so well and I love seeing your super work.

It was such a rainy day yesterday, there were lots of puddles everywhere and lots of grey clouds in the sky. Today I would like you to write a story about a rainy day. Have a look at this rainy day picture -

I would like you to write a story about the picture. Here are some questions to help you to write your story -

  • Who are the characters in your story? Can you describe the characters? Are they friendly, helpful, unkind?
  • Where are they all going?
  • What will they do when they get there?
  • What will go wrong in your story? Will one of the ducklings get lost? Will the fox lose his umbrella?
  • How will they solve the problem?
  • What will happen at the end of your story?

Have fun writing your story. When you have finished, maybe you could share your story with someone in your home.

For Maths have a go at the number bond game, level 3 is really tricky and you have to be really speedy too.

As it is Friday, I thought that you could also do some singing and dancing too. There are lots of fun songs.

Remember to do some sheets from your pack too.

Have a lovely day and keep being superstars.

Miss Pearce

Thursday 2nd July

Good Morning,

I hope that the sun is going to come out today, it was a bit grey and windy yesterday.

For English today I would like you to play wordshake, it's a bit like the game we play on the board in class when we have to find as many words as we can.

Maybe you could then have a go at using some of your words in some super sentences. Or you could have a go at writing some questions, don't forget your question marks too.

For Maths I would like you to have a go at comparing numbers.

Then I would like you to see if you can write an answer for each of these problems -

I am thinking of the number 34.

  • How many tens do I have?
  • How many ones do I have?
  • What number is 10 more?
  • What number is 10 less?
  • If I counted from 20 - 30, would I say my number?
  • How many more do I need to make 40?
  • Is my number odd or even?
  • Is my number nearer to 0 or 100?

I also have a recycling game for you to play.

Try to do a few pages from your packs and enjoy a reading session. Retell your story to someone in your home, can you remember everything that happened in your story?

Have a lovely day.

Miss Pearce

Hopefully some of you managed to get onto AR and complete a Star reading test and have started to take some quizzes.

Hi everyone. I hope you had a lovely day yesterday and were able to get some fresh air.

Well done to the children that have logged on and taken an AR test. Some of you have even taken a Star reading test to see what level you are now at. Fantastic work and keep it up! i have had some enquiries about how to log on to AR. Firstly, go to Miss Hart's page where she has put on a link to the AR website. When you get onto the page, put in your username. This will be the first letter of your name and the first four letters of your surname. So Joe Smith would be -

username: jsmit

password: abc

I hope this helps and if there are any problems, please let me know.

Today I would like you to listen to this story called How To Be A Lion.

Good morning everyone. I hope you had a lovely weekend and managed to get out in the beautiful sunshine.

Well done to all the children that have been sending in their work especially Daris who consistently shows us the work he has been doing at home. What a superstar!
Look at this smiley chap having a wonderful time in his swimming pool. Looks like you are having great fun and I'm very jealous as you look lovely and cool smiley
Today I want you to carry on with your work on money. You can choose to use one coin or a mixed amount of coins and find the correct amount of coins to buy that toy. Remember that the coins have different values so look at the number on each coin to help you.
You can try this game. It's called Cashing In and it helps you to give the correct amount of money using different coins. Try giving money up to 20p and then try 50p. See if you can challenge yourself to give money up to £1. Have a go smiley
I would also like you to keep practising your common exception words. Here are some new ones for you to practise. Remember to write them out, cover them over and then try spelling them without looking. Then check them.

Have fun today and don't forget to do a few pages from your home learning packs.

  • How many teddies could you buy?
  • How much would a bike and a book cost?
  • Can you buy 3 items for 20p? Which items could you buy?

  • Does a plant need light?
  • What else does it need?
  • What is the stem for?
  • Why do plants need roots?

I would also like you to practise learning your common exception words. These are words that come up lots when we are writing but we may not always be able to sound them out using our phonics. Have a go at spelling them by covering up the word and  then see if you can write them without looking at the spelling. This way you will get better and better at spelling.

Good Morning,

Wow, this week has really flown by! I hope that you have enjoyed the first week of Term 6 and have all been working really hard. I missed the sunshine yesterday so am hoping that it manages to shine a little today.

Yesterday you listened to the story The Storm Whale. Can you remember what happens in the story? Did you retell the story to your adult?

Today I would like you to have a look at this picture from the story and see if you can spot Noi's cats. Read the sentence to check how many cats Noi has and see if you can find them all.

Then have a look at this picture -

I have some questions that I would like you to answer. Have a go at writing a sentence to answer each question, I have written an example for you.

  • Who is Noi watching?

Noi is watching his Dad go to work.

  • What job do you think Noi's Dad has?

  • How is Noi feeling in this picture?

  • Why is Noi feeling like that?

  • Have you ever felt like Noi does in this picture?
For Maths today I would like you to have a go at this place value game.
Then I have a Maths challenge for you to complete. I would like you to see how many two digit numbers you can make using only the numbers shown on these cards -
  • What is the biggest two digit number you can make?
  • What is the smallest two digit number you can make?

Good Morning Everyone,

I hope that you had a good day yesterday and have been working hard. I wonder if the sun will shine today or if we will have more rain, what would happen if we had a mixture of rain and sun? Maybe you could draw a picture to show what happens when it is sunny and raining at the same time.

Today we are going to have a look at what animals eat. Can you remember what carnivores, omnivores and herbivores are? See if you can remember and then watch the below video to check that you were right. Here is a clue- one eats meat, one eats plants and one eats meat and plants.

Today I would like you to design your own animal. Here is an ideas sheet to help you to think about your creation.

Design an Animal

Think about what body parts your animal might have – will it have wings, a tail, feet, arms, legs?

Remember to draw a detailed picture of your creation and then label the body parts and give your animal an exciting name.

Would your animal be a carnivore, a herbivore or an omnivore?

For Maths I would like you to practise writing your numbers 0 – 20 making sure that you write them neatly and checking that they are the right way around. Then can you use your numbers to make number sentences – can you pick two numbers between 0 and 20 and make addition and subtraction number sentences. If you want to challenge yourself you could pick three numbers and create your own number sentences. See if you can create ten different number sentences.

Try to do a few sheets from your home learning pack and remember to keep reading too.

This term we would have looked at the book Storm Whale. Listen to the story and then tell your adult what happened in the story. What did you like about the book?

Have a super day and I look forward to seeing some of your learning soon.

Wow, it is the end of Term 5 today! This term has really flown by. Today I would like you to finish off any work in your home learning pack.

  • where is the book set?

Thursday 14th May

Good Morning,

I hope that you had a good day yesterday and enjoyed writing your stories. Today I would like you to reread your stories and see if you can improve them. Check that you have used capital letters and full stops. Have you added adjectives (describing words)? Does your story have a beginning, a middle and an end? Can you add anything else to your story? What could happen next? Once you have reread your story and checked it then maybe you could share it with someone in your house. Remember to read it to them using a lovely clear voice.

I also thought today would be a good day for a boogie. Pick one of the songs and have a good dance.

Patrick the Panda has been busy counting his money and adding coins. Can you remember all the different coins?
For Maths I would like you to have a go at adding coins. You could use real coins to practise or you could play the Toy Shop Money Game.

Keep working hard on your packs too and reading. I have just finished the book that I have been reading and am looking forward to picking my next book. I wonder what book you will read today!

Have a good day and let’s hope that the sun shines today.

Good morning everybody. I hope that you all had a lovely weekend although yesterday was a bit of a surprise as it was so cold. How did you celebrate V.E Day? Thursday 7th May

Good Morning,

I hope that you have had a good week and enjoyed the sunshine yesterday.

Well done to everybody who has completed work and either emailed it in or saved it on Purple Mash, you are all working very hard and we are very proud of you.

For today’s activity I would like you to think about another character from our story, I would like you to think about the character of the Wolf. Think about what he looks like and what sort of character he is too. Can you make a list of adjectives (describing words) to describe the Wolf and then can you use those adjectives to write a character description of the Wolf? See if you can think of some exciting adjectives to use in your character description. Remember to use neat handwriting and to reread your work to check that your sentences make sense. What else does a sentence need, can you remember? It needs a capital letter and a full stop too.

I have also set you some phonics activities to complete on Purple Mash. You can practise your phonics at Phonics Play too.

For Maths today I would like you to practise doubling. Can you create your own doubles poster, here is an example –

You could draw doubles ladybirds, doubles butterflies, doubles dice, doubles dominoes. Try to make your poster as bright as possible and remember to write the number sentences clearly too. You could then use your poster to play the doubles game.

Patrick the Panda has been practising doubling too. I wonder if you can beat his score!

Tomorrow is a Bank Holiday to celebrate VE day so we will all have a long weekend. If you visit Miss Sexton’s page, you can watch Miss Sexton read some diary entries that were written at Westcourt during World War II.

Have a lovely day and keep working hard.

The Sweetest song

An African American folk tale, for children to listen to at home

This story is from a collection of traditional tales. These tales are have been told for a long time by different story tellers before they were written down. Listen to the story and think about these questions.

  • What do we find out about Little Daughter?
  • Does she listen to her parents?
  • What do you think the wolf is thinking?
  • What does 'tiptoed' mean?

I would also like you to draw a picture of some of the flowers or characters from the story and I will put them in on our class page. You can use anything to do this such as pencil or a collage with different materials. Have fun and i look forward to seeing your creations.

Have fun with your artwork and don't forget to keep reading everyday. Have a good day and remember to pick your new home learning packs today.

Thursday 30th April

Good Morning,

I hope that you have had a good week so far. I wonder what the weather is going to do today, I am hoping that the sun will shine so that I can go out for a nice walk and some fresh air. I hope that you have been on some nice walks.

Today your challenge is to draw a story map for the Jolly Postman. Your story map needs to show the Jolly Postman’s journey from house to house so you need to make sure that you draw the houses in the right order. Label all of the houses too. You can reread the Jolly Postman to remind yourself of his journey. Try to be creative with your story map. Here is an example of a story map to help you.

I have also set you some activities on Purple Mash. You do not need to do them all today, you can spread them over a couple of says. We do enjoy seeing all the activities that you have completed on Purple Mash so keep up the good work.

For Maths today I would like you to see how many ways you can find to make 12 using addition. Maybe you could use objects to help you but make sure that you always have 12. Can you record your number sentences neatly? Make sure that you write your numbers the correct way around too. If you would like a bit more of a challenge then see how many ways you can make 12 by adding three numbers together.

Patrick the Panda has been busy, he has made a panda. Have you made anything this week? You can send us pictures of your creations and we can share them in the gallery.

Have a super day and keep working hard. We are all very proud of you.

Good morning everybody! I hope you were able to get some fresh air yesterday and managed to dodge some of the showers. Thank you so much for the work that you have sent in. Well done to Faye and Harrison for the fantastic book reviews that you have written. The Highway Rat is one of my favourites along with anything written by Julia Donaldson. I'm glad you liked the way that the story is written in rhyme.

Happy 100th Birthday Captain Tom

As you may have heard, someone will be celebrating a very special birthday tomorrow. Captain Tom Moore will be celebrating his 100th birthday! To celebrate this special birthday, he decided to set himself a challenge of walking 100 laps of his garden to raise money for the NHS. His challenge raised over £28 million and inspired lots of people around the world to donate or set up similar challenges.

Captain Tom

To celebrate Captain Tom's birthday you could make thank you card or a birthday card, Perhaps you could find out a bit more about him and his achievements. Remember to send a photo of your card to our class email.

Different types of houses

Did you manage to look at different houses? For you next task, we would like you to have a go at making your own house, You can use cereal boxes or shoe boxes that you no longer need to make the shell of your house, bungalow or flat. Make sure you include a front door, windows and a roof in your design. Have fun with this activity and we look forward to seeing the results.

Remember to keep doing a little bit of your booklet everyday. If you are finding a page difficult, then move on to the next page. Don't worry about it and just have fun with your learning.

Tuesday 28th April 2020

Happy Tuesday everyone. I hope that you had a lovely day yesterday and managed to get some fresh air. Last week I set you a task of going for a walk and looking at the houses or looking carefully at your own house or flat. So far we have only had a few children sending in their photos and drawings. Perhaps you could look at this again the next time you go for a walk. Have a look to see if the houses are joined to another house (terraced or semi-detached) or they are on their own (detached). It could be that you see flats or apartments. You may even see a bungalow which is a house on one level.

Have you read any good books lately? Remember to keep on reading for 15 minutes each day. You can read all types of books. They can be story book, fairy tales or non-fiction books about something that interests you. Good morning,

I hope that you have had a good start to the new term and that you had a lovely Easter. I have been enjoying going for walks and spotting all of the rainbows that children have drawn and put up in their windows. Have you drawn a rainbow?

Today it is St George’s Day. St George is the patron saint of England. Here is a story about St George.

Once you have watched the story, have a go at this quiz to see how much you can remember about the story.

Wednesday 22nd April ๐ŸŒผ

Good morning everyone! Another sunny day. I hope you have been able to get some fresh air and have been getting some exercise. Have you spotted any birds in your gardens or on your walks? If you have send me some pictures and tell me what types of birds that you have spotted. I get a visit from a robin everyday and I think he is enjoying the food that I have put in the feeder although I have two greedy pigeons that also like the food. ๐Ÿฆ.

This is one of my dogs and his name is Eric. He is enjoying having mum at home and helping me with some decorating although he did step in the paint tray. He spends most of his time chilling with my other dog Ted. He is very naughty though and he likes to chew especially socks! Send in pictures of your animals as I would love to see them ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿฐ๐Ÿญ๐Ÿฑ

I hope that you have been able to access the Jolly Postman and have read the book. What was your favourite character? Did you spot any characters from different stories? Well done to Harrison who sent me a lovely picture of the Gingerbread Man and also a picture of your house. Well done to Faye who has accessed Purple Mash and has create a colourful picture of her house. Keep sending all your work in and I will put them in our galleries that are at the top of this page.

I hope you have also been able to look at some of the websites that have been suggested. Take a look at this website as it is very good to help you with your spelling. It’s free and it has really good activities.

Keep working on your packs and don’t forget to send me all your pictures of your work. Don’t forget to look at Purple Mash and complete some of the activities that I have set.

Have a lovely day and stay safe.

Tuesday 21st April 2020

Good morning everyone. It's another bright and sunny morning and hopefully you will be able to get out in your gardens today if possible. It was so lovely to speak to some of you yesterday and hear all about what you have been up to. Darcy-Leigh told me that she can now ride her bike without stabilisers! Well done Darcy-Leigh. It was also lovely to speak to all your parents to see how you are all doing and it was great to hear that you are all enjoying your home learning packs and going onto Purple Mash. Keep on trying to do a little bit every day and remember to keep up with your reading.

Our learning this term will be focused on homes. Did you manage to have a look around yesterday? Today you could draw a picture of a house that you can see. It could be your house or a neighbours house and then send them to me and I will put them in our Gallery. Remember to send all your work to Turkey@westcourt.kent.sch.uk.

We will also be reading the Jolly Postman this term. See how many different characters you can see and try to discover which fairy stories they come from. Have a look at the words that are new to you and talk about these words with the adult that you are reading with. Draw a picture of your favourite character and don't forget to send it to me.

Have a lovely day and work a little on your packs. Try and access Purple Mash as I know lots of you have been working super hard on this. Take care and stay safe.

Welcome to Term 5 smiley

Good morning everyone and welcome to Term 5. I hope you all had a lovely Easter and enjoyed the sunny weather that we have had. I hope that you had lots of fun playing in your gardens and that you haven't eaten too many Easter eggs. I hope you have been spotting all the wildlife and birds around and have spotted lots of different garden birds. I have a robin that visits every day as well as some sparrows and a blackbird. There are also some very greedy pigeons that like to take all the food from the bird feeders too! I look forward to hearing all your news. Please keep sending all your pictures to our class email address which is

Turkey@westcourt.kent.sch.uk. Thank you for all the work that you have been doing over the holidays. Some of you have been working very hard on Purple Mash with some great results. Keep up the fantastic work.

This term we will be looking at houses. We will be looking at all types of houses so have a good look around when you go out for a walk. What are they made of? Are they attached to another house or are they on their own? Are they a flat or a bungalow? Have a good look and let me know what you have discovered.

I hope that you are still reading every day at home. It doesn't have to be a story book and it can be a comic or a non-fiction book or anything that interests you. There are some good websites for you to practice your phonics as this will help you with your reading.

https://www.phonicsplaycomics.co.uk/

https://new.phonicsplay.co.uk/

Both of these websites are free for you to play and they have lots of activities for you to try.

There are lots of other websites for you to try to help you with your learning.

I hope that you all picked your packs up from school ready to start working on this term. Happy learning and stay safe and well.

Friday 3rd April

Morning Everyone, it’s Friyay!

I hope that you had a good day yesterday and enjoyed some time in the sunshine. I went for a lovely walk and looked at the beautiful flowers that are starting to spring up all over the place.

Patrick the Panda enjoyed looking for birds out of the window. He spotted a pigeon, some sparrows and a blue tit in the tree. What birds have you spotted?

Well done to Daris, Shaun and Sebastian for completing your work on Purple Mash. You are all working really hard at home.

Today you can finish your work pack and give yourselves a Marshmallow Clap for working so hard. Maybe you could pick your favourite activity on Purple Mash and have another go and try to improve on your last score.

I would also like you to complete an online safety activity and send us your finished pictures so that we can share them in the home learning gallery. Here is the link for the activity -

Thursday 2nd April

Good Morning,

I hope that you all had a good day yesterday. It has been lovely to see how hard you are working at home, keep up the good work!

Today I have set you two tasks on Purple Mash, one is a telling the time activity. Remember to look really carefully at the hands on the clock. The other activity is a sorting activity thinking about singular and plural nouns. Remember that singular means that there is only one and plural means that there is more than one eg cat is singular, cats is plural.

Patrick the Panda has been busy looking at and reading lots of books. Have you read any good books this week? Maybe you could send us a photo of yourself reading and we could share it on this page.

Have a lovely day today and I hope that the sun shines all day. Don’t forget to see if you can spot any birds in your garden. Patrick the Panda is going to see if he can spot any birds today. You could draw a picture of any birds that you spot and share them with us.

Keep working hard and helping at home.

Miss Pearce

Wednesday 1st April 2020

Happy April Fools day everyone!

Hope you are all feeling well. Thank goodness the weather was a little bit better today and its looks like Rocco and Beau are enjoying their exercise on the trampoline. Daris has also been hard at work on his multiplication problems. Thank you to all the parents for sending in the pictures of your children's week. Please keep doing so and we will continue to share them.

Well done to Sebastian, Shaun, Harrison and Daris for completing the A-fish-metic challenge with some super scores. See if you can beat your score next time. Good work Tilly-Ann on completing your addition and subtraction challenge. Fantastic work on everyday materials and great explanations given.

If you are outdoors in your garden, have a look to see if you can spot any birds. I have recently put up an new bird feeder and I am eagerly trying to spot any birds. Here is a website to see if you have any of these in your garden and let me know what you spot. You can draw or take a picture or even make a 3D model of it or any other animal that you wish. I look forward to seeing them.

Keep sending in all your lovely work and stay safe everybody.

Good morning everyone! I hope you and your family have had a restful time although the weather has not been great. What have you been doing this weekend? Have you been doing any crafting or cooking with your adults? If so, ask if you can send some pictures of all your activities to Turkey@westcourt.kent.sch.uk. Sebastian and his Easter bonnet

Remember to do a few pages of your home learning booklet every day and I will add some more work on PurpleMash for you to do. Today I would like you to practise counting up to 100 and beyond and counting back. You could do this with a partner and see how far you get. You are aiming to improve how far you get each time. You could try writing your numbers down too. Check out this website as it has lots of Phonics, English and maths games for you to try.

Friday 27th March

Good Morning Everyone,

I hope that you had a good day yesterday and that you had lots of fun with your learning. Well done to those of you who have completed work on Purple Mash, I have seen some great robots. Patrick the Panda went on a material hunt and found six different materials in the kitchen. How many materials did you find? Can you name the materials that Patrick the Panda found?

Remember to complete some work in your home learning pack and send it to us, we really enjoy seeing what you have been doing at home. There is also a Number Bonds game to play on Purple Mash today.

Patrick the Panda has been busy today practising his phonics and there is a link below for you to use to practise yours. Patrick’s favourite game is Picnic on Pluto.

Today can you use the Little Bird Spelling game to practise spelling tricky words and then pick one of the bird boxes and use the words to write some super sentences in your book. Remember capital letters, full stops and your best handwriting.

Have a super day of learning.

Thursday 26th March

Good Morning Everyone,

I hope that you all had a good day yesterday and managed to get out for a walk in the sunshine. Well done to everybody who has completed work on Purple Mash and in their home learning pack. It is great to see that you are working so hard. Well done to Kye who has completed lots of work in his pack.

Kyeโ€™s WritingKyeโ€™s Maths

Patrick the Panda has been working on Purple Mash and has designed a robot.

Can you use Purple Mash to design your own robot? Think about what materials you would use to make your robot.

Maybe you could go on a material hunt around your home and see what different materials you can find. Patrick the Panda thinks that he will be able to find 6 different materials, I wonder how many you will find?

Remember to read a little everyday. Oxford Owl has lots of books that you can read for free. You could draw a picture of a story that you have read and enjoyed and share it with us at Turkey@westcourt.kent.sch.uk. You could have a go at writing a sentence about why you enjoyed the story too.

You could also use the Hit the Button game to practise number bonds to 10 or 20 or you could see how many ways you can find to make 20. You could use objects to help you and record your number sentences neatly in your book.

Have a lovely day and I look forward to seeing some of your super work soon.
