You will need: compound words deletion cards
The objective of this activity is to teach your child to isolate syllables in words.
Before playing, make sure that your child is confident in segmenting syllables.
Show your child the selection of compound word pictures (which you need to cut into two pieces). Ask them to name the picture.
Remove one part of the picture and ask them to identify what word is left. This is an early support for syllable deletion as the syllable the child is left with is still a word.
Picture vocabulary included: lipstick, football, snowman, cupcake, pancake, rainbow
