Sorting into categories develops vocabulary skills by allowing children to compare how objects are similar, how they belong within certain groups and also the function of the groups. It also helps children learn new vocabulary and the category name.
You will need: picture sorting cards
Cut out the pictures for sorting. Spread the pictures on the table/floor and ask your child to sort them into three groups: animals, food and clothing.
