ThinkNinja

Who is it suitable for?

Children and young people aged 10 to 18 years.

How does it work?

ThinkNinja uses the principles of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). CBT is a talking therapy that can help you manage your problems by changing the way you think and behave.

The app has a variety of content and tools including:

  • an AI-driven chatbot (the WiseNinja) that acts as a mentor and "virtual coach in the pocket"
  • goal setting – the ability to set and revisit specific goals
  • mood rating – a daily mood rating that allows you to track your mood
  • techniques for beating stress, dealing with negative thoughts, coping with difficult feelings, and how to relax and improve sleep

In response to increased anxiety about the coronavirus, new content has been added to help:

  • address fears relating to the virus
  • cope with isolation and stay connected to family and friends
  • deal with concerns about personal health and the health of family members
  • build mental strength
  • develop coping techniques to use during the crisis

How do I access it?

ThinkNinja is free to download during the coronavirus crisis from the App Store and Google Play.

The app is usually commissioned by NHS organisations, such as Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) and NHS Trusts. It’s accessible at NHS sites and local schools within that geographical area.

After the coronavirus crisis, you'll only be able to access full content within ThinkNinja if you’re between 10 and 18 years of age and live in an area of the UK where full content is available.
