Letter regarding Monday 19th July
Please see below information which we have been sent regarding essential gas mains replacement work around Valley Drive, Gravesend.
I am writing to advise you of our project to upgrade the gas network in Valley Drive, Gravesend. We'll be replacing our old metal gas mains and services with new plastic pipe. This essential work will ensure your community continues to receive a safe and reliable gas supply for many years to come.
In consultation with Kent County Council, our contractor WCB Utilities, who are carrying out this project on our behalf, are currently working in the roads around Valley Drive.
Our engineers will start work in Valley drive from 22 July until 31 August. To ensure the safety of everyone around our worksite we will need to close Valley Drive from the junction with St Benedict's Avenue to the junction with Whitehall Lane. Access will remain for residents and a diversion will be in place Valley Drive, Hever Court Road, Singlewell Road and Old Road East.
To keep the traffic flowing, Whitehall Lane will be temporarily changed to a one-way system for vehicles northbound from Lamorna Avenue to the Echo Square roundabout.
Please ensure that you check with your local bus company for any changes to times or stops.
We're working closely with the UK Government and public health bodies to make sure we work in line with expert advice during the pandemic. We have extra safety precautions in place to protect our colleagues and our communities from catching or spreading the virus as we carry out safety-critical project. There's more information about our coronavirus response on our website: sgn.co.uk/coronavirus.
We understand that people can get frustrated by roadworks. However, the new plastic pipe has a minimum lifespan of 80 years. This means that when the work is complete, residents will continue to enjoy the benefits of a safe and reliable gas supply for years to come.
Please feel free to share this information with anyone you feel may benefit.
Thank you for your continued support during this project and if you have any questions, please do let me know.
